GE has signed a multimillion dollar, multi-year maintenance plan with RWE npower to provide a full range of services intended to help increase the operational flexibility and reduce costs of the gas-fired 740MW Little Barford and 400MW Great Yarmouth power plants in the UK.
The Little Barford combined cycle plant operates with two 50Hz GE 9FA gas turbines, while the Great Yarmouth plant operates with one GE 9FA gas turbine. For the duration of the contract, GE will supply original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts and technical services including repairs and training.
The multi-year maintenance program is to help increase the availability and reliability of the GE 9FA turbines at both sites, GE said. It also helps the plants to maintain high levels of fuel efficiency and reduce maintenance cycles to enable higher availability and increased revenues from generation.
The new agreement follows a previous service agreement between GE and RWE npower for the Little Barford plant which included the first installation of GE’s dual fuel DLN 2.6+ combustion system technology in the UK, leading to a 40 percent reduction in NOx emissions.
