Siemens Gas Turbine Technologies (SGTT) and power producer OGK-2 sealed a long-term service contract for PGU-800, Russia’s largest combined cycle power plant (CCPP), at the recent 2013 Russian International Energy Forum in St. Petersburg.
Siemens will provide maintenance of the gas turbines and generators for a period of 12 years. The first inspection with execution of scheduled work is expected to begin next month.
In March 2012, OGK-2 completed the repowering of Unit 6 of Kirishi power plant by adding two high-efficiency Siemens SGT5-4000F gas turbines to the existing steam turbines. This project was the first of its kind in Russia. It created a combined cycle power plant and increased the power capacity of the unit from 300 MW to 800 MW, and the efficiency from 38 to 55 percent, while reducing fuel consumption from 324 g/kWh to 220 g/kWh.
