Pratt & Whitney’s waste heat-to-power Organic Rankine Cycle solutions now
eligible for the California Self-Generation Incentive Program
Pratt & Whitney Power Systems (PWPS), a world leader in Organic Rankine Cycle solutions for waste heat, biomass, geothermal and solar thermal power applications, announced recently that its Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) turbo generators are now eligible for the California Self-Generation Incentive Program (SGIP).
PWPS offers a wide spectrum of ORC products ranging in power output from 250 KW to 10 MW of renewable power. They use a closed-loop thermodynamic process that converts low to moderate-temperature hot resources into efficient and reliable electric power, producing no emissions.
Under the SGIP, qualifying California utility customers can receive up to a $1,250/KW rebate to help reduce the cost of installing PWPS waste heat-to-power generation equipment.
The SGIP was modified under a California Public Utilities Commission decision making Organic Rankine Cycle/waste heat-to-power systems eligible for the SGIP along with a list of other greenhouse gas-reducing solutions. The SGIP aims to transform the energy marketplace, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and manage peak load performance.
