Velo3D, Campbell, California, USA, has received a $20 million order for its metal Additive Manufacturing machines from an existing aerospace customer earlier this month. The order is the largest to date for Velo3D since its commercial launch in September 2018. The order comes amid economic disruption in the industry resulting from the Covid epidemic.
“This significant order validates that Velo3D’s SupportFree process is production-ready,” stated Benny Buller, the company’s founder and CEO. “Our recent successes across various industrial sectors show that many OEMs and contract manufacturers are adapting their supply chain to meet the demands of manufacturing mission-critical components.”
Velo3D’s portfolio consists of its Flow pre-build software, Sapphire Laser Powder Bed Fusion (PBF-LB) AM machine, and Assure quality assurance and control system. News of this latest order comes after Velo3D’s recent completion of a $40 million fundraising round, increasing its total fundraising to $150 million to date.
